Water heating accounts for about 18% of your home's energy use, and reducing your hot water use by upgrading your home water heater is a long-term fix that typically pays for itself in a relatively short time through improved efficiency.
There are a variety of eligibility guidelines specific to each rebate. Please review all program requirements (PDF) before purchasing equipment or applying for rebates.

These rebates require CenterPoint Energy gas service.
Available rebates Specification Rebate Natural Gas Storage Water Heater .67 EF or higher $100 Homes with CenterPoint Energy gas service are eligible for this rebate.Natural gas storage water heater must have an Energy Factor (EF) of .67 or greater to qualify.Look for the EF (Energy Factor) rating on the water heater specification sheet or on the packing box. It may or may not be listed on the water heater label.
Natural Gas Tankless Water Heater .90 EF or higher $250 Homes with CenterPoint Energy gas service are eligible for this rebate.Natural gas tankless water heater must have an Energy Factor (EF) of .90 or greater to qualify.Look for the EF (Energy Factor) rating on the water heater specification sheet or on the packing box. It may or may not be listed on the water heater label.
